Description
Award winning independent developer Firebrand Games is looking for a Senior Engine Programmer to join the team in the US to work on an exciting new racing game and bring Firebrand’s proprietary Octane engine to the latest gaming technology platforms.
The Senior Engine Programmer will work closely with our game team, Technical Director and Lead Game Programmer to port, expand and mature our proprietary Octane technology to full TCR compliance on Sony’s PlayStation Vita.
As a senior member of the programming team you will assist the Technical Director, Lead Game Programmer and Producer in creating schedules, identifying risks and priorities while taking full ownership of technical requirements sub-systems and the platform specific build process. As a Senior Programmer you are also expected to apply up-to-date and relevant programming methodologies, produce exemplary work and mentor less experienced programmers.
Qualifications
• BS in Computer Science or other suitable degree preferred.
• Professional experience working in video game development.
• Must have the right to live and work in the USA.
Preferred experience
• A minimum of 4 years of professional video games programming experience.
• Credited on at least 2 published video games in a (Senior) Programmer role.
• Experience with engine development on HD consoles / platforms.
• Experience through a full TRC submission on at least one PS3 game.
• Knowledge and experience working with Sony’s Phyre engine.
Required skills
• High level of proficiency with C++, STL and OOP.
• Profound knowledge of rendering and shader techniques, threading / multi-core architecture and file I/O, audio and controller systems.
• Exceptional communication and team working skills.
• Ability to work unsupervised and manage your own tasks and priorities.
Desired skills
• Experience with Nintendo platforms.
• A deep interest in games in general and racing games in particular.
• Good optimization skills in general and on HD consoles in particular.
Portfolio
• Solid demo of personal work.
• Links to commercially released products with clear indication of contributions made.
