Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join our highly experienced team in Glasgow, UK, currently working on a high profile AAA Wii project.

A senior programmer is required to be both technically proficient & creatively driven. They must possess the ability to work closely with project team members from various disciplines, from art through to design, to help create & implement core fun game play features. A solid knowledge of engine technology is also required as they will be expected to contribute to the ongoing development of proprietary cross platform technology.



Qualifications

Computer Science or other suitable degree preferred.



Preferred Experience

• 4+ years C++ development in a professional environment.

• 4+ years experience in game development.

• 2+ commercially shipped titles

• Professional games industry experience may be substituted with suitable experience from other fields.



Required Skills

• Ability to quickly master proprietary tools and development processes.

• Excellent communication skills; both written & verbal.

• Strong interpersonal skills being able to work well in a tight knit team environment.

• Highly organized with a strong obsession for & understanding of the importance of details.

• Take and understand instructions well, meet deadlines & can cope with multiple tasks.

• Must be able to use MS Office: Outlook, Word, Excel & MS Project.

• In depth knowledge of 3D mathematics & graphics.

• Ability to provide concise, constructive, detailed & specific feedback on design concepts, task specifications, tools, pipelines & processes.

• High level of proficiency with C/C++, STL, OOP, large scale systems design & patterns.

• Solid understanding of core engine modules such as: memory management, file IO, audio, threading, graphics, peripheral control.

• Ability to quickly learn existing proprietary game & engine technologies & work within their framework.

• Collaborating on the design of code related to their immediate tasks.

• Providing regular progress updates to their lead.

• Reacting to bug reports generated by QA teams.



Desirable Skills

• Strong general knowledge and understanding of games, especially Racing Games. Avid console gamer.

• Experience working with the Nintendo DS or Wii a definite advantage.

• Demonstrable specialisation in any of the following areas a plus: graphics & rendering, networking, physics, AI, audio, UI, game play systems.

• Links to commercially released titles with clear indication of contributions made.
